The PS 124 Online Learning Network The PS 124 Online Learning Network At PS 124 we're approaching the year-and-a-half point of our media education residency. In that time we've developed a network of blogs that has become known as "The PS 124 Online Learning Network". This group of websites are the foundation of the school's media education and technology integration program, used for student practice with the Internet and web publishing, archiving of lesson plans, rubrics, and curriculum maps, and as a community resource for general school info and announcements.

Our most recent addition to the network is the Digital Productions Page on the staff web site. This page will serve as an archive of all of their student digital productions -- videos, polished blog writing and musical recordings -- as well as lesson plans and rubrics created in support of the production process.

A new element to our classroom production work this year has been adding ongoing notes via blog "comments" to our published lesson plans to archive issues and experiences related to the production process. Our goal is for this to allow for everyone involved to highlight teaching opportunities that arise during production, and to flag logistical or other challenges as well.

We are encouraging the entire PS 124 community, as well as educators at large on the Internet, to contribute to these discussions, and refer to them when planning their own productions. This level of honesty, scrutiny, feedback, and "on-the-ground" experience reflected in the comments, along with archived examples of the resulting digital productions should be a great source of online support for educators in our learning network interested in student classroom production.

For an example, check out this 3rd grade video lesson plan and the notes that follow. If you get swept up and have something to say, by all means, leave a comment!
