Rhys Daunic reflects on 10 years in media literacy in the Journal of Media Literacy Education (JMLE).

The Media Spot's Rhys Daunic published an article reflecting on 10 years in the field of media literacy education in Volume 3 Issue 1 of the Journal of Media Literacy Education (JMLE).

Rhys was recently asked by the Journal of Media Literacy Education to submit, along with 9 other scholars and practitioners, an essay reflecting on the past 10 years in the field.  My essay, 10 years of Media Literacy Education in K-12 Schools, remarks at how the foundational mission and definition of media literacy education in the K-12 arena is as spot-on as it was a decade ago, and easier to recognize due to the rapid adoption of new media like Facebook and Smart Phones over that period.  I describe how I have seen schools changing to adapt to our changing culture, and what I see as the challenges for schools over the next 10 years to prepare students as lifelong learners and participants in our new digital landscape.

Read the full essay, and others from some of my heroes in the field in Volume 3, Issue 1.
