Green Eagles – Heroes of the Environment

The Eagle Academy for Young Men of Staten Island middle school established a student ‘Green Team’ – The Green Eagles – with help from the NYC Department of Sanitation-sponsored Zero Waste Schools program and school sustainability coordinator and science teacher, Lauren Stoll. In the spring of 2022, The Media Spot helped the Green Eagles establish a video production studio where they wrote, acted, recorded and edited three public service announcements.

Their goals were to: 1) inspire their community to care about the environment, 2) teach the school how to properly use the recycling and trash sorting stations set up by the Green Eagles, and 3) introduce the Green Eagles to the community, explain what they do, and inspire others to get involved.

All three videos were screened for the school at their end-of-year award ceremony, where the Green Eagles were honored for their work!
