Each grade team at PS 682 (K-5, Brooklyn) worked backward from the TMS Media Literacy Target Profile for their graduating 5th graders, by aligning and coordinating all media related practices towards that end.

5th graders from PS 32 in the Bronx filmed as they harvested with the Commish of NY State Department of Agriculture, then worked with TMS to make this video.

The Media Spot is working with 5th grade students at PS 682, The Academy of Talented Scholars (TAOTS), to produce a collection of short documentaries that tell the history, share the curriculum, and capture the school experience from the students perspective. The latest installement in this process was carried out as an Enrichment Cluster* titled Document This!
Students at The Academy of Talented Scholars produced a series of documentary videos collaboratively scripted across 3 classes that share their perspectives on their school. The grade-wide collaborative project began at the end of their 4th-grade year and continued into their 5th.

The second-grade teachers at PS 130 in Brooklyn are experimenting with integrating student multimedia production through iPads in their units of study on NYC communities, restaurants, and birds.

Over the past year, I had the opportunity to work with the inspirational staff at the Brooklyn School of Inquiry, PS 686, on a series of documentary videos on their arts, enrichment and media literacy programs.
